High school tennis: Tiebreaks set the scene for North Hall's 3-2 win, advance to second round in state tournament

The North Hall boys tennis team defeated Sonoraville 3-2 in a tiebreak-themed night Tuesday to advance to the second round of the Class 3A state tournament. Third singles Jonathan Elder won in straight sets, prevailing in the second set tiebreaker. First doubles Forrester Terry/Jackson Roush fought off a first set tiebreak to win the match in straight sets. The line two double team of Noah Wagner/Jake Bruce rounded out the win for the Trojans, winning in straight sets (both tiebreakers).

NORTH HALL GIRLS ADVANCE TO ROUND TWO OF THE 3A STATE TOURNAMENT: Anna Montgomery, Lauren Davis and Baylee Turner won each of their singles matches 6-0, 6-0 against Ringgold, while Sydney Patterson/Raquel Kallab and Ella Oxley/Lauren White completed the 5-0 sweep for the Lady Trojans (16-4).

FLOWERY BRANCH BOYS ADVANCE TO ROUND TWO OF THE 4A STATE TOURNAMENT: The Falcons defeated Gilmer 3-0 with singles wins from Drayton Matus and Jack Thomas. First doubles Gunnar Hetzel/Matthew Helms won in straight sets.

FLOWERY BRANCH GIRLS ADVANCE TO ROUND TWO OF THE 4A STATE TOURNAMENT: Annabelle Thomas and Alyssa McSpadden won in straight sets, 6-0, 6-0 won in the first round of the Class 3A tournament. Third singles Olivia Nance clinched the winning point for the Lady Falcons, 6-0, 6-2.
