High school tennis scoreboard: Johnson boys pick up sweep against Walnut Grove

Garrett McCarthy won his match in straight sets (6-0, 6-1) in Johnson High’s 5-0 win against Walnut Grove on Thursday. 

Also winning for the Knights were Bud Abercrombie (6-0, 6-3) and Dalton Hooper (6-2, 6-0). Jackson Barkley/Caleb Traylor won in doubles (6-2, 7-5) for Johnson. The duo of AJ Buendia/Wyatt Abercrombie also contributed a straight-set win (6-1, 6-3) in doubles for Johnson.

Johnson plays Loganville on Tuesday at Davis Middle School in Flowery Branch.

JOHNSON GIRLS 4, WALNUT GROVE 1: Perla Rivera won in straight sets (6-1, 6-0) for Johnson. 

Anna Cooper won in singles for the Lady Knights in straight sets (6-4, 6-0), while teammate Morgan Langley defeating her singles opponent in straight sets (6-0, 6-0). Isa Martinez/Haley Grimes won in doubles (6-4, 6-0) for Johnson.

NORTH HALL BOYS 5, DAWSON COUNTY 0: North Hall’s Masa Kobayashi defeated his opponent in straight sets in No. 1 singles (6-0, 6-0). 

Christian Boychuk got the win in No. 2 singles (6-1, 6-2) for the Trojans. Kody Dills picked up the win for North Hall in No. 3 singles (6-0, 6-0). Winning in doubles for the Trojans were Adam Turcotte/Ethan Surles in No. 1 doubles (6-1, 6-0) and Forester Terry/Jackson Roush in No. 2 doubles (6-2, 6-4). 

North Hall (1-3, 1-0 Region 7-3A) plays in the annual Granger Invitational this weekend.

NORTH HALL GIRLS 5, DAWSON COUNTY 0: Anna Montgomery won in No. 1 singles (6-0, 6-2) for North Hall. 

Sydney Patterson was the No. 2 singles victor (6-0, 6-0) for the Lady Trojans. Christen Barnes defeated her opponent in No. 3 singles (6-0, 6-0) for North Hall (3-1, 1-0 Region 7-3A). Lauren Davis/Baylee Turner won in No. 1 doubles (6-1, 6-0) for the Lady Trojans, while teammates Raquel Kallab/Ella Oxley won in No. 2 doubles (6-1, 6-0).
