High school tennis: Flowery Branch earns No. 3 seed in state tournament

The Flowery Branch girls tennis team took down Denmark 3-0 on Thursday to claim the No. 3 seed to state out of Region 7-4A tournament. Annabelle Thomas, Alyssa McSpadden and Olivia Nance all won singles matches to give the Lady Falcons the victory.

Flowery Branch will travel to Gilmer for the first round of the state tournament in Ellijay.

BUFORD BOYS 3, CLARKE CENTRAL 0: Buford picked up singles wins from Brady Todd, Dean Kingsley and Luke Davidson for the Region 8-5A championship Thursday in Buford.

Buford hosts Clarkston to open the Class 5A state tournament next week.

BUFORD GIRLS 3, LOGANVILLE 0: Alex Mann and Callie Perkins won in singles, while the team of Kennedy Deloach/Taylor Ryczek won in doubles in the Region 8-5A championship Thursday in Buford. 

Buford hosts Miller Grove in the first round of the state tournament next week.

JOHNSON BOYS, GIRLS EARN PLAYOFF SPOTS: The Knights’ boys and girls tennis programs locked up the No. 4 spot to the state tournament at the Region 8-5A tournament Thursday in Buford.
