High school scoreboard: Winters' 29 points paces East Hall girls to win in holiday basketball tournament

Carly Winters led East Hall to a 72-65 win against Woodward Academy, scoring 29 points on Friday at the War Lodge Invitational at Sequoyah High in Canton. The Georgia State signee scored 17 of her 29 points in the fourth quarter against the Lady War Eagles. Ivey Shadburn had 15 points for the Lady Vikings (5-5) while teammate Tessa Rider finished the night with 11 points. Tyler Collins had 35 points for Woodward Academy.

East Hall plays today at 2:30 p.m. against Sequoyah in Canton.

SOUTH MIAMI (FLA) BOYS 80, EAST HALL 65: Luke Cooper had 15 points for East Hall and Luke Holtzclaw added 14 in the semifinals of the Carolina Forest Classic on Friday in Myrtle Beach, S.C. East Hall jumped out to a 10-2 lead against South Miami, a state semifinalist the past three seasons in Florida’s Class 8A

At the half, the Vikings were down 34-31. Holtzclaw drained back-to-back 3-pointers early in the third quarter to give the Vikings the 37-34 lead.

Next, East Hall faces West Hall in the first round of the Lanierland at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday at Lakeview Academy.

BANKS COUNTY GIRLS 51, NORTH HALL 44: Allison Smith led the way with 17 points and eight rebounds for Banks County. Maddie Thomas added 15 points for the Lady Leopards (8-3) while teammate Jaycie Bowen finished the night with 10 points and six rebounds.

Banks County faces Habersham Central at 5 p.m. on Thursday in the Banks County Christmas tournament.

BANKS COUNTY BOYS 68, NORTH HALL 35: Carl Cleveland led Class 2A’s top-ranked Leopards with 22 points, seven rebounds, one assist and a steal. Gabe Martin added 22 points, one rebound, two assists and one steal for the Leopards (10-1, 1-0 Region 8-2A).

Banks County plays Hebron at 8:30 p.m. on Thursday in the Banks County Christmas tournament.
