For the second year in a row, the Flowery Branch boys basketball team will be in need of a new head coach.
Chezley Watson announced his resignation Tuesday following his first season with the team.
“Being a member of the Flowery Branch family has been a wonderful experience, which has afforded me many valuable opportunities to learn and grow as a person,” Watson said in his letter of resignation.
The Falcons finished the year 1-24 in Watson’s lone season with the team and failed to qualify for state playoffs.
“Coach Watson is a fine man and excellent basketball coach,” Flowery Branch athletic director Jimmy Lawler said in a statement on the resignation. “He did a good job with our players this year and we are sorry that he has decided to pursue other interests, and we wish him the best of luck. We will begin immediately to start the process to find the next head coach.”
