Pair of Bulldogs drafted late

ATHENS — University of Georgia senior pitcher Justin Earls and sophomore pitcher Michael Palazzone were selected in the Major League Baseball draft Wednesday.

Earls, a left-hander, was the 31st round pick of the Texas Rangers, the 946th overall selection.

Palazzone, a 6-2, 197-pound right hander, was the 32nd round pick of the Cleveland Indians, the 960th overall selection. Also in the 32nd round with the 958th pick, Bulldog signee Joe Robinson, a 6-2, 190-pound right-hander from the College of Southern Nevada was drafted by the Baltimore Orioles.

Earls ended his Bulldog career ranked second in school history with 108 appearances. 

He made a team-high 28 appearances this past season, going 2-0 with a 7.05 ERA and one save. In 37 innings this season, he walked just two batters and struck out 25.
