Joe Thurston drove in a run on an RBI single and J.C. Boscan scored another run in the second inning as the Gwinnett Braves defeated the Toledo Mudhens 7-4 on Wednesday night in Toledo, Ohio.
The G-Braves added three runs in the eighth inning. Matt Young plated two runs with a single, scoring Thurston and Josh Anderson. Young came home to score on an RBI single from Wes Timmons.
Barbaro Canizares added a solo home run for Gwinnett (38-42) in the third inning and Timmons scored on a sacrifice fly in the fifth inning. Thurston led Gwinnett offensively with a 2-for-4 night at the plate.
Scott Proctor pitched 1 2/3 innings in relief and picked up his second win of the season.
He allowed three hits and two runs to the Mudhens (41-39).
Game 3 of the series is at 7 p.m. tonight at Fifth Third Stadium in Toledo, Ohio.
