Local golf: Trio wins CMGA event

A.J. Kiker, Bob Watson and J.B. Johnston teamed up to take first place as the Chattahoochee Men’s Golf Association played a two best-ball, aggregated net-points game Wednesday at the Chattahoochee Golf Course.

Don Wells, Guy Long, Bill Sutton and Dick Bachman placed second, while the team of Butch Teston, Joe Roberts, Bob Henderson and Gene Weschler placed third.

Fourth place went to the team of Harry Barnett, Don Gage, Bob Layne and Bob Higgins. Closest to the pin winners were Kiker on No. 3, Wells on No. 5, Roy Lyle on No. 12 and Larry Cohan on No. 17.

DPG: The DPG played matches on Monday and Wednesday of this week at Chicopee Woods Golf Course.
On Monday, Charley Kilby carded a score of +8 to take first place in Group A. Dave Jetter and Denis Jordan tied for second with a +2, while Dwight Miller took third with an even score and Bob Kidd finished fourth with a -1.

In Group B, Jerry Pearson carded a +3 to take first place, while Martha Shell placed second with a -1 and James Roberts placed third with a -2.

On Wednesday, Norm Phillips carded a +5 to take first place. Bob Kidd’s +4 was second and Steve Knowles finished third with a +2. Jerry Shell placed fourth with a +1.

DOGFIGHT: Tommy Calhoun, Mark Black, Brian Coley and Yoshi Keichii combined to card a 15-under-par and take first place in the Wednesday Dogfight this week at Chicopee Woods Golf Course.

Dave Sellers, Dan Arthurs, Karl Steigle and Don Schrum teamed up to record an 11-under-par for second place.
In the individual competition, Coley’s 62 was good enough for first, while Mark Reynolds carded a 68 for second place. Schrum placed third with a 69, Bob Arendt placed fourth with a 71, Gayle Gibson was fifth with a 72 and
Arthurs was sixth with a 73. Mark Black, Mike Kishimoto, Scott Holcomb and Jeff Fraizer tied for seventh at 74.
