College scoreboard: North Georgia tops Lander in baseball series finale

The University of North Georgia plated four runs in the third inning as it went on to beat Lander 8-1 on Sunday in Greenwood, S.C. Trevor Sams had a two-run single for the Nighthawks (12-4), and Devin Gearhart had a pair of hits and scored three runs. On the mound, Lumpkin County High graduate Daniel McCrary picked up the win after throwing the first six innings and allowed six hits. On Wednesday, North Georgia visits Anderson University at 3 p.m. in Anderson, S.C. SoftballNORTH GEORGIA SPLITS DOUBLEHEADER: The fourth-ranked Nighthawks split a doubleheader against Armstrong State, losing the first game 3-1 in extra innings and winning Game 2 7-2, to open Peach Belt Conference play Sunday in Dahlonega.
