Brenau University sports briefs: Lady Golden Tigers soccer team loses to No. 4 Lee University

The Brenau University soccer team lost to NAIA No. 4 ranked Lee University 3-1 on Wednesday.

Alyssa Schmucker scored the lone goal for Golden Tigers’ (4-4, 1-2 SSAC). Lily Futrell added an assist.

Kelly Young, Leanne Rowley, Mandy Ulseth and Jennifer Rainey led Brenau on defense.

Brenau faces Toccoa Falls College at 7 p.m. Tuesday at Allen Creek Soccer Complex.

Arthur leads Brenau in losing effort

The Brenau University volleyball team lost to Berry College (25-20, 25-16, 25-12) on Thursday in Gainesville.

Alexis Arthur led The Golden Tigers (4-7, 0-7 SSAC) with six kills, five digs, two blocks and one ace. Audra VanArsdale had sevne assists, five kills and three digs, Kerry Abernathy had eight assists and two digs, Courtney Frady had seven digs, four kills, one assist and one block , Karen Green had three kills, three assists, three blocks and one ace and Meredith Hardin had six blocks and two kills.

Brenau visits Columbia College at 2 p.m. Saturday.

Fell named Athlete of the Week at Brenau

Brenau University swimmer Sarah Fell was named Brenau Athlete of Week by the Brenau coaching staff Thursday.

Fell, a sophomore from Brunswick, won the 1,650-meter freestyle and the 500 freestyle and finished fourth in the 100 breaststroke in the Golden Tigers’ 128-55 win against Milligan (Tn.) last Saturday.
