Running backs Brandon Grant and Chris Howard combined for 102 yards off of nine carries, but their efforts couldn’t stop a 24-3 Rabun County victory over Riverside Academy Friday night.
Quarterback Hunter Sims was 3 for 10, 33 yards against the hosts, but couldn’t find enough receivers to make a comeback after the Wildcats went up 17-3 at halftime. Riverside (1-2) gave up a safety in the first and second quarters before Rabun County (3-2) scored three unanswered touchdowns to hold off the Eagles and win its third game of the season.
Mahlik Faulk rushed for 26 yards on five carries, and Avery Cagle made two sacks in the loss. Kicker Jordan Ainslee scored on an 11-yard field goal to give Riverside its only points on the night.
