Corso and Kennedy strike again! It seems that neither of them understand what "illegal" means. A sick bird perhaps?
They have both written letters inventing a "right" for people who are residents of other nations to be in America without any documentation whatsoever and have decried our sheriff for enforcing the law. Kennedy stated that the sheriff "is not required to enforce INA 287(g)." Since when is the sheriff’s office allowed to pick and choose which laws to enforce?
I am very proud of our sheriff and his fine department and I’m glad he chooses to enforce all the laws, not just part of them. The people arrested for fishing without a license were here illegally, and that in itself is a crime.
The arresting officer, upon discovering they had no license to fish, had every right to ask for identification and when none could be produced, to conclude that they were here illegally, which is a crime.
Kennedy and Corso have implied that people have a right to come here to work and that is true, if they have proper documentation. But not those who sneak across the border.
I also would question Kennedy and Corso’s sense of fairness. Why would they think people should be allowed to come here illegally when there are thousands reported to be in line to come here through legal channels? What do they think about our immigration system? There is only one conclusion they can draw: It is grossly unfair.
I’m not a lawyer, but I’m under the impression that it is a crime to harbor a criminal, and if that is true, a case could be made to arrest those who rent to and hire anyone who is here illegally. That might be something for law enforcement to look into.
I am not against immigration, just those who come here without going through the proper channels and take advantage of all the "freebies" that add to local expense. They are not immigrants; they are criminals and should be treated as such. If they were true immigrants, they would have documentation.

Choo-choo needs redo
The city train displays at the corner of Jesse Jewell and West Academy in Gainesville were recently painted at a cost of more than $50,000 to taxpayers. So why is paint flaking off in large chunks?
