I received my new tax assessment. I opened it and nearly passed out. I have 0.4 acres of land that abuts Corps property. It is not dockable (I had the Corps come out a few years ago to see about putting dock in) because it is too far from the lake and you risk your life trying to get there.

It is raw land, as much as it can be at 0.4 acres, with no house. My appraisal at 100 percent last year was $26,573. This year, it is $108,000! What the heck happened?

My house is on the lot next door to it and is not on the lake; those taxes have not changed. I have appealed and hope something can be done, but I am not holding my breath. If anyone on the Board of Assessors wants this property for $108,000, just send me a check!
