Sometimes there are periods when we fail to acknowledge those who make wonderful gifts to our area. I’m thinking of Doug and Kay Ivester.

Not only did they make a sizeable gift to the Atlanta Botanical Gardens, Gainesville when it was being built, but they gave the amphitheater where performances of national reputation are already being held. And now they are helping with other important aspects of our area.

They have made significant gifts to Brenau University and the Northeast Georgia History Center in memory of their families.

Doug and Kay have a home in Atlanta where they reside when they are not traveling all over the world. I first met them on a safari in South Africa.

I’m reminded of a little diddy I used to say when I was growing up, "Two, four, six, eight, who do we appreciate? Doug and Kay Ivester!"
