Letter: Hall County doesn't need this sales tax

Does Hall County need $217 million in improvements? Even if the cost is spread over the next six years?  Residents are asked to vote on a tax increase Nov. 5. The Board of Commissioners has a long wish list they would like us to fund. My observation is: Hall County is a great place to live — right now. Nothing is lacking.

SPLOST VIII will pay for upgrades. I don't think we need hundreds of millions of dollars in upgrades.

I see the proposed improvements as mostly readying the county for an influx of more people, cars and homes and stores.

The board has just approved a 1,570-home development near Braselton. Let that be a look into the future for the rest of Hall.

The tax revenue from that mega-project should be plenty adequate for incremental countywide upgrades.  Vote “no thanks.”
