A windier day couldn’t have been chosen for the opening of the Woven Whimsy outdoor art exhibit at Atlanta Botanical Garden: A Smithgall Woodland Legacy in Gainesville. Undaunted, dozens of visitors braved the unseasonable chill and heavy gusts Saturday to walk in the gardens and explore the fantastic sculpture by North Carolina artist Patrick Dougherty. Unlike most art, they could physically enter and explore the group of towering tornado shapes that make up Woven Whimsy.
