A woman suffered burns to about one third of her body in a duplex fire Saturday evening in the New Holland area of Gainesville.

Hall County Fire Services responded around 5:10 p.m. Saturday, June 2, to Spring Street. They found heavy fire on the left side of a 2,500-square-foot duplex, which suffered the majority of the damage.

Capt. Zachary Brackett said a woman was burned and taken to Northeast Georgia Medical Center by a personal vehicle before firefighters arrived on scene.

“She is now being airlifted to Grady Memorial Hospital in Atlanta for burns to 30 percent of her body that are second- to third-degree and located on her back,” Brackett wrote in an email news release.

The cause of the fire is unknown.
