The Hall County Sheriff's Office is searching for a person suspected of stabbing a woman in the stomach this morning at a South Hall home.

The preliminary investigation showed that the woman had answered her door and was confronted by a Hispanic male in his late teens, said Col. Jeff Strickland, sheriff's office spokesman.

He stabbed her and then ran away, the woman told deputies.

The woman, who didn't know her attacker, was flown by helicopter to Grady Memorial Hospital in Atlanta, where she is being treated. Her injuries are not believed to be life-threatening, Strickland said.

The incident took place at 9:30 a.m. in the 2400 block of Bald Eagle Place off Calvary Church Road.

Deputies searched the area in an effort to find the suspect. Investigators are working with the victim to try to identify the suspect.

No other details were immediately known, including the woman's name.
