The following school systems and colleges have announced their schedule changes for Friday, Jan. 14, 2011, due to the winter storm.
- Brenau University: Classes have been canceled on Friday, but employees should report at 10 a.m.
- Forsyth County Schools: will be closed Friday. Twelve-month employees report to work at 9 a.m. Friday.
- Habersham County Schools: will be closed Friday
- Hall County Schools: will be closed Friday. Twelve-month employees report to work at 9 a.m. Friday.
- Gainesville City Schools: will be closed Friday. Employees who work more than 190 hours should report to work at 9 a.m. Homecoming events scheduled for Friday have been moved to Feb. 1.
- Gainesville State College: Both Gainesville and Oconee campuses will be closed Friday
- Jefferson City Schools: will be closed Friday
- Jubilee Christian Academy: will be closed Friday.
- Lakeview Academy: will be closed Friday, but students will conduct remote school from home.
- North Georgia College & State University: will operate on a normal schedule on Friday.

- Gainesville-Hall County Senior Life Center will be closed Friday. It will reopen on Tuesday. Meals on Wheels will be closed Friday. It will reopen on Tuesday. Red Rabbit routes 1-6 will operate from 8 a.m.-5 p.m. Friday and rides will be free. Route 7 will reopen Tuesday. Dial-A-Ride will operate from 8 a.m.-5 p.m.
- St. Michael Catholic Church: School of Religion classes for Friday are canceled,
