Winter weather has forced the following closings and cancellations:
SCHOOLS & UNIVERSITIES
North Georgia College & State University: The Sweetheart Ball will be moved to Feb. 19. All scheduled military activities for this weekend will continue as planned for residential cadets. The Library Technology Center plans to remain open as scheduled. Additionally, the Fiddleheads concert planned for Saturday night will still be held. All post-bac classes canceled Saturday.
ATHLETIC EVENTS
The Region 7-AAA basketball tournament, which was slated to start Monday with the seedings determined Saturday, will now begin Wednesday. The semifinals and finals of the tournament will now be held Monday, Feb. 22 and Tuesday, Feb. 23. The game times and venues for the tournament will remain the same.
UPDATED: The Region 6-AA basketball tournament, scheduled to begin Tuesday has been pushed back until Thursday. More details will be announced soon.
The wrestling state sectionals originally rescheduled for Monday have again been postponed. All Sectional (Class AA-AAAAA) and Area (Class A) wrestling tournaments have been canceled because of the possibility of snow and icy conditions Monday. All wrestlers will be moved to the Gwinnett area starting Wednesday. Further schedule updates will be available from the GHSA.
UPDATED: Buford-Lovett basketball re-scheduled for Saturday has been postponed until Monday with the girls tipping at 4 p.m. and the boys at 5:30 p.m.
Chestatee soccer scrimmage games canceled for Saturday. The games against Dacula have rescheduled to Tuesday at Allen Creek Soccer Complex. The women's match will be played at 5:30 p.m., followed by the men's game at 7:30 p.m.
UPDATED: Chestatee and North Hall basketball games rescheduled for Saturday have been canceled. They will be made up Monday beginning at 4 p.m.With Forsyth County schools canceling activities for the weekend, the Johnson-Lambert and Flowery Branch-West Forsyth games will not be played until Monday with times to be announced.
UPDATED: West Hall and East Hall basketball games rescheduled for Saturday have been canceled. They will be made up Monday; JV boys at 4 p.m.; varsity girls at 5:30 p.m.; varsity boys at 7 p.m.
