Police are searching for a suspect following a chase involving a stolen car that began in Flowery Branch early Saturday morning.
A Flowery Branch police officer attempted to make a routine traffic stop on Atlanta Highway around 12:15 a.m. He identified the silver Nissan Altima as matching the description of a car involved in suspected entering autos near Memorial Park Drive.
Hall County Sheriff Sgt. Stephen Wilbanks said county deputies became involved in the chase when it left Flowery Branch jurisdiction. A short time later the suspect lost control and wrecked in a yard near Cash Road and Elizabeth Lane.
Wilbanks said the suspect ran and K-9 units were unable to locate the suspect.
Following the chase, deputies discovered the vehicle was stolen Oct. 11 in Gainesville. Investigators found a handgun and other items believed to be stolen.
Deputies were unable to provide a description of the suspect and the incident remains under investigation.
