Life Line screenings for risk of stroke or bone fractures are scheduled for Jan. 11 at First Baptist Church of Gainesville, 751 Green St.

Appointments may be made beginning at 9 a.m. and will take 60 to 90 minutes. The cost is $139 or more. The screenings are noninvasive and painless.

Stroke is the third leading cause of death in the U.S. and a leading cause of permanent disability, and often has no warning signs. The screenings can identify conditions that may lead to a stroke, such as blocked arteries or irregular heart rhythm.

A bone density screening can assess the risk of osteoporosis, and are appropriate for men and women.
