Qualifying ends today for two open seats on the Flowery Branch City Council.

Elizabeth Monica Beatty of the Waterstone Crossing subdivision qualified for the Post 5 seat Wednesday morning.

Those interested in running for election have until 4:30 p.m. to qualify at Flowery Branch City Hall, 5517 Main St.

The special election to fill Post 1, held by Damon Gibbs, and Post 5, held by Tara Richards, will be on June 16. Both Gibbs and Richards resigned for job opportunities that require them to relocate from the South Hall city.

Sterling on the Lake residents Chris Mundy and Michael G. Justice both qualified for the Post 1 seat Monday.

The qualifying fee of each post is $144, which is 3 percent of the annual salary.

The Post 5 position runs through December 2017, while the Post 1 term is over Dec. 31.
