The Gainesville Public Utilities Department will host an open house from noon to 4 p.m. Friday at Riverside Water Treatment Plant in celebration of National Drinking Water Week. Tours of the plant will be offered, along with information on the amount of water that runs through the plant and how it’s treated. The American Water Works Association has been celebrating Water Week for 36 years, calling attention to the role water plays in our everyday lives.
