92-year-old woman dead after being hit by truck on Limestone Parkway

Update, Nov. 15: 

A 92-year-old woman was killed after being hit by a vehicle on Limestone Parkway around 6:30 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 14.

Bernice Thurmond, 92, of Gainesville, was walking across Limestone Parkway near Lighthouse Manor Drive when a southbound Honda Ridgeline hit her, according to Gainesville Police.

Thurmond was pronounced dead at the scene.

Cpl. Jessica Van said Thurmond was coming from the shopping area of Dollar General. Police believe she was heading home toward Lighthouse Manor Drive.

The driver of the truck called 911 and remained at the scene.

Gainesville Police said no charges are expected at this time, but are continuing to investigate.
