Potential approval of a new waterslide will bring an early close to SnowWorld at the Lanier Islands resort in Buford.
Initially expected to end March 1, SnowWorld’s season now will close Jan. 25. SnowWorld kicked off its inaugural season in late November.
Anticipation of Army Corps of Engineers approval for a new four-lane waterslide led to the decision to close SnowWorld early. The early closing will allow time for the construction of the waterslide.
SnowWorld at Lanier Islands, 700 Lanier Islands Parkway, Buford, will be open 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. Saturday, 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Sunday and Monday, with an MLK Day Give Back Event offering half-price admission in exchange for a bag of gently used clothing to donate to Goodwill of North Georgia. The resort will be open 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. Jan. 24, with Snow Jam 2 with KICKS 101.5 featuring a live remote and live concerts, and 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Jan. 25.
