Gainesville police are searching for a man accused of robbing the The Pantry at Kangaroo on Jesse Jewell Parkway at about 1:18 a.m. Thursday.

A cashier at the business at 506 Jesse Jewell Parkway described the suspect as a black man about 6 feet 2 inches tall in his 40s, said Cpl. Joe Britte, spokesman for the Gainesville Police Department.

The cashier said the man was wearing a white painters suit, white hat, black boots and jewelry around his neck and left wrist when he approached the counter and demanded money, Britte said.

The suspect, who had a large knife, took a minimal amount of cash and ran from the business toward West Avenue, Britte said. The cashier was not injured.
