A Gainesville man is accused of taking part in an arranged Jan. 4 drug deal with another man, when the victim was beaten by multiple people until his brain bled, according to police documents.

Robert Elton Wood, 19, of Gainesville, was charged as a party to a crime of aggravated battery and armed robbery. He was booked Friday in to the Hall County Jail, where he remains.

According to the warrants, Wood allegedly aided and abetted others in causing harm to the victim by “arranging a drug deal with (the victim) while he and others struck (the victim) on and about his head with a blunt object and shotgun.”

The victim had multiple skull fractures and “brain bleeds,” leading to hospitalization in the intensive care unit, according to the warrants.

Wood is also accused of being a party to an armed robbery of a wallet, where a shotgun was pointed at another victim.

According to the warrant, the incident that led to all of the charges took place on Amberleigh Trace at Hope Road in Gainesville.
