A burglar deactivated the alarm and took part of the surveillance system from a Gainesville gas station Monday, May 6, police said.

The burglary at the Jesse Jewell Parkway Valero was reported to Gainesville Police.

Chief Jay Parrish said there was no forced entry around 2:15 a.m. Monday, as the “alarm was deactivated with a code.”

Parrish said “18,000 in cash, a DVR from the surveillance system and cigarettes were stolen.”

“This is most likely an inside / employee or ex-employee related crime,” Parrish wrote in an email.

No information on a suspect was provided.
