The effect of war on veterans and their families will be the topic of a panel discussion at Piedmont College in Demorest at 7 tonight.

The event, open to the public at no charge, is set to take place in the Stewart Hall Auditorium.

Piedmont’s chaplain’s office and the Piedmont art department are sponsoring the forum.

The speakers are Bob Justus, a veteran of the Korean and Vietnam wars; Evelyn Sweet-Hurd, author of "His Name Was Donn: My Brother’s Letters from Vietnam;" Katherine Von Nessen, a Piedmont student who has served in Afghanistan and Iraq; Piedmont registrar Linda Wofford, whose son, Army Sgt. Jamie Davey, has served in Afghanistan and Iraq; and Piedmont art professor Karl Michel, a Vietnam veteran who will talk about veteran’s art as response to war.

Refreshments will be offered and a book signing by Sweet-Hurd will take place afterward.
