Gov. Sonny Perdue said today that he has submitted the required certification on 67 road projects around Georgia that will be financed by the $787 billion federal stimulus bill signed by President Barack Obama in February.

The projects, which total $207 million, represent about one-fourth of the total funds that will be available to Georgia for transportation through the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act.

“This first batch of projects includes some badly needed bridge repairs, resurfacing projects on highways with some of our lowest pavement ratings and two widening projects that will improve congestion and safety and spur economic activity,” Perdue said.

The three projects in Hall all involve road resurfacing. They include U.S. 129 from Gillsville Highway to Monroe Drive; Mount Vernon Road from Thompson Bridge Road to Dahlonega Highway; and Ga. 365 from Jesse Jewell Parkway to Lula Road.

They have been budgeted at nearly $6.6 million.
