Hall County Planning Commission meeting
What: Consideration of party rental space business and relocation of home at Lake Lanier Mobile Home Park
When: 5:15 p.m. Monday
Where: Hall County Government Center, 2nd floor meeting room, 2875 Browns Bridge Road in Gainesville
With restaurants, auto mechanics and small retail shops — among many others — already operating along Atlanta Highway in Gainesville, the busy thoroughfare crossing between predominantly Latino neighborhoods is one of the most diverse business districts in all of Hall County.
Now come plans for a retail and party rental space business in a 5,149-square-foot building on 1.21 acres.
The Hall County Planning Commission will hear the proposal at its meeting Monday.
If approved, the retail and rental space will host parties, special events and family gatherings until as late as 1 a.m. on Friday and Saturday nights, and 11 p.m. on Sunday.
The building was formerly given occupancy permits for a church.
According to a statement from applicant Sandra Pequeno, her mother has done party decorations for nine years, “and I feel like it is time to have a place of our own.”
Pequeno said the building will have adequate security, and that all food must be brought in, with nothing allowed to be prepared on site.
County planning staff has recommended approval.
Meanwhile, the planning commission will also review a proposal to relocate a mobile home within the Lake Lanier Mobile Home Park on Clarks Bridge Road.
Relocating to an undeveloped area of the mobile home park property will exceed county setback requirements from roads and adjacent properties, according to staff reports.
The relocation — a result of a failed septic system on lot 42 last year — has been appealed, and planning board members are reviewing the issue once more at the request of the Board of Commissioners.
Finally, a proposal to vary yard setbacks for a residential property off Bolding Road near Winder Highway has been tabled at the request of the applicant, according to planning staff.
