An overturned trailer blocked three lanes of traffic on Green Street in Gainesville, just north of its intersection with Ridgewood Avenue, during rush hour Tuesday night.

The Gainesville police and fire departments responded before 5 p.m. to the overturned trailer with nonhazardous planting materials.

“It looks like his connection busted loose and flipped over,” Gainesville Fire Department spokesman Keith Smith said.

All southbound lanes were blocked, with many vehicles turning onto side streets near the First Baptist Church to get around the mess. Northbound lanes were moving slowly, with traffic in the far right lane passing by the incident.

The road was cleared before 7 p.m.
