Christine Worl is the lone qualifier so far this week to replace Flowery Branch Councilman Fred Richards, who died in June.
The Gainesville Street resident qualified Tuesday, July 17, according to the city.
Qualifying is set to end Wednesday, July 18. Candidates can file paperwork at City Hall, 5410 Pine St., during normal business hours. The filing fee is $144.
The Nov. 6 special election will coincide with the county’s general election, so voters will be able to go to their county-designated polling place to cast their ballots, officials have said.
The new Post 3 council member will be elected at large and will serve the balance of Richards’ term, or until Dec. 31, 2021.
Richards, 70, had started a new four-year term on Jan. 1 after being re-elected in November.
The last day for voters to register for the special election will be Oct. 9.
