Three families were displaced Thursday morning when a fire broke out in a house in the 2700 block of Buena Vista Circle in Gainesville.

Fire started in a first floor bedroom around 10:20 a.m. in the single family home. Seven adults and five children lived in the home and some residents were inside when the fire started. No one was injured.

About 40 percent of home was damaged due to smoke, but the fire was contained to the bedroom, Gainesville Fire Chief Jerome Yarbrough said.

Resident Juliana Vargas outside when the fire started and came inside to find smoke billowing in the four-bedroom house.

“You could barely see,” she said.

The Gainesville fire marshal was at the scene and the cause of the fire is under investigation, officials said.
