Northeast Georgia Medical Center Barrow has named Winder native Heather Standard as its chief nursing officer.
Standard started her career at the hospital 24 years ago as a certified nursing assistant in inpatient rehabilitation. She later joined the Women and Children’s staff as a registered nurse before being promoted to charge nurse and unit manager. In July 2016, she was named director of Women and Children’s Services, where she oversaw a vast array of services including labor and delivery, antepartum, OR/PACU, postpartum, lactation, NICU, pediatrics and women’s health.
Standard was influential in bringing the nitrous oxide program to NGMC, and served on the leadership team providing oversight for the development and implementation of NGMC Braselton’s 10-bed labor and delivery unit.
Standard has a bachelor’s degree in nursing and a master’s degree in health care administration from Brenau University.
