BRASELTON — Despite having two post offices within a mile of each other, the Braselton/Hoschton area will have another U.S. Postal Service facility.
Starting Tuesday, the USPS will open its Braselton/Hoschton Carrier Annex at 544 Jesse Cronic Road in Braselton.
Customers still will need to visit their respective Hoschton or Braselton branch for retail services, but residents needing to pick up hold mail, packages and any mail needing a signature can do so at the new annex. In addition, a collection box will be placed at the facility for outgoing mail.
Mail can be picked up between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m. Monday through Friday and between 9 a.m. and noon Saturdays.
Derrell Smith, postmaster of the Braselton and Hoschton carrier annex, said the area’s growth was the main reason for the new facility.
"The general public won’t see any difference at their home," he said. "It’s (the new annex) just for the carriers to sort their mail before they go on their route."
He added that the new facility will open more parking spaces at the Braselton and Hoschton post offices and allow the trailers at both locations to be removed.
