A man was in critical condition at an Atlanta hospital after a fight at a South Hall home Sunday morning.

Hall County sheriff’s deputies responded shortly before 9 a.m. to the home in the 2400 block of Bolman Drive, off Candler Highway.

"Upon arrival, deputies discovered that during a fight between two men, one of the men had been severely injured and was experiencing difficulty in breathing," said sheriff’s Maj. Jeff Strickland.

Aaron Trent Gibbs, 32, was flown to Grady Memorial Hospital.

Deputies took the other man, 25-year-old Allen Reed of Pendergrass, into custody. He was interviewed and then released.

"The preliminary investigation indicates that Gibbs was the primary aggressor in the (fight) and alcohol was involved," Strickland said.

A magistrate reviewing the case declined to issue an arrest warrant, he added.

The sheriff’s office continues to investigate the fight.

"The two men have a history of domestic violence," Strickland said.

The fight took place at the home of Reed’s grandmother. Gibbs lived at the residence.
