A Gainesville man faces charges of operating a clandestine methamphetamine lab near his Barrett Road home, authorities said.

Donald Lee McDonald, 44, was arrested Wednesday night on a charge of manufacturing methamphetamine, Multi-Agency Narcotics Squad Commander Scott Ware said.

Ware said a search of McDonald’s home at 3091 Barrett Road turned up materials used to make methamphetamine in an outbuilding behind his house. Investigators found a mason jar containing oil used in the process and a set of digital scales, Ware said.

Authorities believe the items found were capable of yielding a half-ounce of finished methamphetamine valued at approximately $1,400, Ware said.

McDonald remains in the Hall County jail.
