A Gainesville man is accused of firing two shots at a car as a man, woman, and child backed out of a driveway, according to authorities.
Robert Scott Webber, 60, was charged with three counts of aggravated assault.
Hall County Sheriff’s Office spokesman Derreck Booth said a man and woman went around 11 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 8, to pick up the woman’s 2-year-old child, who was being watched by the woman’s mother at Webber’s residence on Country Lane.
“When the man and woman entered the residence to pick up the child, Webber became aggressive towards the woman, attempting to hit her on two occasions, according to the preliminary investigation. During the first instance, the male victim and another man threw Webber to the ground,” Booth wrote in a news release.
The man threw Webber again to the ground while attempting to get in the car and leave. Booth said alcohol may have been a factor in Webber’s actions.
“Deputies determined that Webber fired two gunshots at the car as the man and woman backed out of the driveway with the child. One of the shots hit the car, but no one was injured,” Booth said.
The victims called authorities when they were farther down the street.
Webber was being held at the Hall County Jail without bond.
