A male was shot in the abdomen Wednesday night at Ridgecrest Apartments in the 1600 block of Roper Hill Road in Gainesville, authorities said.

The male was shot by an unknown perpetrator, said Gainesville Police Department spokesman Cpl. Kevin Holbrook.

The perpetrator left before officers arrived, Holbrook said.

The victim was transported to Northeast Georgia Medical Center, Holbrook said, and his condition is unknown.
