After reconsidering the low bidder for the Lula Veterans Park, the Lula City Council decided to stick with the original contractor.

"The council had the opportunity to readdress the low bidder in consideration of awarding the bid for the Veterans Park ... and they approved that bid to Laslie Brothers," said City Manager Dennis Bergin. "They were the low bidder to begin with."

Bergin said the council made a few changes, which will reduce costs for the city.

"The council approved them as the low bidder for $359,000 and then agreed to change orders in the amount of $115,000, bringing the new total with change orders to $239,892," Bergin said.
