Local students chosen for Honors Program event

Several local students have been invited to participate in the Governor’s Honors Program at Valdosta State University on June 14 through July 25.

Eight students from Hall County high schools were invited to the summer program.

Sarah Brothers of Chestatee High School may attend for Spanish; Elisa Jones of Chestatee, for biology; Robert Bland of Flowery Branch, for social studies; Andrew Popovici of Flowery Branch, for chemistry; Stephanie Pham of Johnson, for communicative arts; Carl Aquino of West Hall, for mathematics; Stede Granger of West Hall, for mathematics; and Mauricio Novelo of West Hall, for communicative arts.

Gainesville High School’s Chandler Darby may attend for theater and Shelley Farmer for communicative arts.

Marcayla Hester of Jefferson High School may attend the Governor’s Honors Program for mathematics.
