If you're looking to land a seasonal job, or even full-time employment, you may want to make plans to take a trip to Gainesville State College on Tuesday.

The Oakwood school will be hosting a fall job fair that day, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the school's student center.

"During the years when the economy can support the job fair, it is offered during the fall and again in the spring," said Debbie Pierce, the college's counseling and career services office coordinator.

The event will include about 20 employers.

Hall County Sheriff's Office, Lowe's of Gainesville, Regions Bank and the Georgia Mountains YMCA are among those that will be in attendance.

"The job fair caters to employers with opportunities available for part-time, full-time and seasonal employment," Pierce said.

The fair is open to both the college's students and also the community at large.

Pierce's office anticipates a few hundred attendees, so job hopefuls should be prepared to spend a little time at the event. They should also come armed with a stack of résumés.

The Georgia Department of Labor's Gwinnett Career Center and the American Legion also will be co-sponsoring a career and job fair for veterans, including disabled veterans, on the same day. That fair will be from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. at the American Legion Post 251 in Duluth.

The Gwinnett event will feature employers, educational institutions and agencies that assist veterans and other job seekers.

Some employers may be hiring, but others may only be discussing possible future opportunities.

A representative from the U.S. Veterans Administration also will be available to assist with VA paperwork.
