The Hall County Library System is asking for a small bump in funding to keep its five branches open eight hours longer during the week. With an extra $30,000 from the county, or a little more than 1 percent of the system’s $2.1 million budget this year, the downtown Gainesville, Spout Springs and Blackshear Place branches could stay open from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday through Thursday. The three largest libraries would be open two more hours on Mondays and Thursdays, according to system Director Lisa MacKinney.
