A veterans career fair will be held from noon to 3 p.m. Thursday at the Georgia Department of Labor’s Gainesville Career Center, 2756 Atlanta Highway. Job seekers interested in attending the job fair may visit www.employgeorgia.com to create an account and upload, or prepare, a resume. A Veterans Community Resource Fair is set from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday at St. John Baptist Church, 757 EE Butler Parkway in Gainesville. American Legion Post 328 and the Northeast Georgia Veterans Coalition will sponsor the event. They will be helping veterans and local residents search and apply for jobs, write resumes and cover letters, and other services.
The Georgia Department of Labor will also host its monthly workshop to help veterans apply for benefits, receive counseling and move into the workforce. Workshops are open to all veterans and their spouses/caregivers. The first workshop will be held 10:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Tuesday at the Toccoa Career Center, 37 Foreacre St.
A second workshop will be held from 10:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Nov. 17 at the Habersham Career Center, 215 Hodges St. in Cornelia. Workshops will continue monthly, on the second to last Tuesdays and Thursdays, unless otherwise noted. Veterans should bring valid identification, including military ID cards and driver’s licenses, along with their resumes.
