Hall County Schools will return to an in-person hybrid schedule beginning Tuesday, Jan. 19, after the school system reported stabilizing COVID-19 numbers and “significantly” decreased student cases, Superintendent Will Schofield announced Thursday morning.

Humane Society of Northeast Georgia celebrates 100 years

The Humane Society of Northeast Georgia’s Mutt Strut and Homecoming centennial celebration took place Saturday at Lakeview Academy.

Dog Gracie Mae was voted Homecoming Queen in an online contest that netted the Humane Society $2,875, said Julie Edwards, director of development and marketing.

The top two vote-getters alone brought in almost $1,700, Edwards said.

Gracie Mae lives with Mike and wife Shelley in Braselton.

“It was a little bit nerve-wracking at the end (of the bidding),” Mike McWhorter said.

Someone bid $100 at the last minute to put Gracie Mae into the queen’s tiara, he said.
