Homeowner holds burglary suspect until deputies arrive

A burglar was caught in the act by a homeowner and held at bay until Hall County Sheriff’s officials arrived to arrest him, authorities said.

Col. Jeff Strickland said the male resident of a home in the 100 block of McConnell Drive arrived home to find a man in his bedroom, who had stacked up several electronic items on the bed.

The homeowner and another man engaged in a brief scuffle with the burglar but no one was injured, Strickland said. The burglar was held by the homeowner and some friends while 911 was called. Deputies arrived shortly afterward and arrested the suspect.

Sergio Rogelio Flowers, 21, of Gainesville, was charged with burglary, simple battery and giving false information.

Investigators recovered electronics valued at $8,000 in connection with the case.

Allen, who lives in Madison County, was charged with two counts of burglary.

A second man, Matthew Daniel, 18, was arrested during the investigation. Daniel faces four counts of theft by receiving stolen property and two counts of entering auto.
