A preliminary hearing has been set for a Flowery Branch man charged with the murder of a Lawrenceville man on Friday.

Randall Lewis Breazeale, 56, made his first appearance Tuesday in Hall County Magistrate Court and the hearing was scheduled for Oct. 20. He faces charges of murder and burglary.

Breazeale is accused of stabbing Tony Caswell Reece, 51, to death during a dispute at an apartment complex off Chattahoochee Street in Flowery Branch.

A Hall County deputy arrested Breazeale Monday after he was spotted sleeping in his car at Little River Park off Cleveland Highway.

Flowery Branch Police Chief Gerald Lanich wouldn't disclose a possible motive for the killing and said Monday the case is still under investigation.

The home where the stabbing occurred was occupied by a "mutual relation," Lanich said.

He didn't have any weapons on him, he said. A knife used in the killing was recovered at the scene.

Breazeale remains in the Hall County Jail awaiting the preliminary hearing.

Bond must be set at a later date as murder cases in Georgia require an appearance in Superior Court.

Brad Morris of the Public Defender's Office said Breazeale has not been assigned an attorney.

Lanich said Monday this was the first killing in Flowery Branch "since we can remember."
