World Language Academy pre-kindergarten teacher Irma Luna plays a game with students Friday morning on Hall County's first day of classes. For many of the youngsters it was their first day ever in a school setting.
Hall schools had a “smooth opening” this morning, according to Superintendent Will Schofield. Officials counted 25,323 K-12 students on the first day, but expect an increase in the next couple of days. Last year the headcount by the third day had increased by 964 students, according to school officials.
